Students from the Hellenic-Arab Maritime Academy (HAMA) participated in the Graduation Ceremony of the 88th Batch of the College of Maritime Transport and Technology’s departments of Navigation and Marine Engineering Technology, of the Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), which was held in the Alexandria Campus, on January 26, 2018.
The Academy’s President, Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar warmly welcomed the Guest of Honor, his Excellency, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr. Kitack Lim, and the esteemed IMO delegates, distinguished members of diplomatic corps and distinguished guests from various countries and last but not least the students, their families, the faculty and the staff of the AASTMT.
During the graduation ceremony, students of the AASTMT proudly raised the flags of the 22 Arab countries, while students of the HAMA raised the Greek and the European flags.
The 88th Batch graduates represented four nationalities -Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Libya- and the graduation parade, along with the students’ basic elementary show and the physical education show were superbly organized and presented spectacles.
Representing HAMA and attending the ceremony were the President of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce & Development Mr. Harris Geronikolas, the Managing Director of the Academic Program Mrs. Argyro Manoli, and the Vice President of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce & Development Mr. Magdi El Halawani, while also present was Mr. Minas Tsamopoulos, Maritime Journalist.
The President of AASTMT, Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar in coordination with the faculty and employees of the AASTMT offered to the distinguished guests a tour of the Alexandria Campus, which included visits to the Planetarium, the Integrated Simulators Complex, the Marine Safety Institute, the Marine Simulators Center and the Academy’s Workshops.
